Handcrafted in teak wood, this is the authentic Gandhi Charkha Wheel. Book Charkha spinning wheel includes 3 spindles, cotton drive band and a skeiner. Everything folds up into a case resembling a hardback book. Its uniquely small compact size and the fact it is from India makes it a special tool. It has a history that helped force a change in India during the rule of the British empire. Ideal for spinning short staple fibres such as cotton or lamb’s fine wool into fine yarns. Excellent for spinning coloured cottons which are of short fibres. Also good for silk, angora, cashmere, dog hair, or any fine fibre.
